Giving a huff about hogs!

Set up by the African Pygmy Hedgehog Club UK, the African Pygmy Hedgehog Rehoming Service finds African pygmy hedgehogs and similar species their forever homes via our network of experienced foster carers covering most of the UK.

Our dedicated Rehoming Team are ready to help, whether that be matching you with a new spiky friend, supporting you through finding a new home for your hedgehog or getting you set up to foster hogs in need.

The Rehoming Team

  • Kennedie - CEO/Owner

I have owned hedgehogs since 2015 and became a Club admin and foster carer in 2020 as well as starting my own breeding programme. I took over ownership of the Club and Rehoming Service in 2023, overseeing everything from finances to fundraising auctions and being the spokesperson for the rescue, sending bossy emails if needed! My own herd is currently 22 APHs, 4 Egyptian long eared and a tenrec.

My expertise is in babies and pregnant mums as well as hedgehogs with a huge range of medical issues, from special dietary requirements to complicated medical care, getting poorly hogs back on track and providing palliative care for those nearing the end of their lives. I also am a specialist in the other hedgehog/tenrec species we work with.

  • Debbie - Hand In Coordinator & Day to Day Rescue Organisation

I started as a foster carer in 2019 before joining the Rehoming Service and the Club as admin in 2021. I have had 57 foster hogs through my door since! I have 5 of my own hogs at the moment although most are old aged now.

My favourite fosters are grumpy ones as it’s so rewarding seeing them come out of their shell. I also love the chunky hogs!

  • Gracie - Rehoming Coordinator

I adopted my first hedgehog from the Rehoming Service in January 2019 and began fostering for the rescue in 2021, before becoming a rehoming coordinator for the rescue and admin for the Club in 2023 along with looking after our website and other admin-y bits. Since then I’ve had nearly 20 hogs through my doors and currently have 3 hogs of my own!

I especially love old hogs or those with behavioural/health issues. I find it really fulfilling to give them a safe place to land for the rest of their days and to live out their little lives how they want.

  • Vicky - Foster Coordinator

I have owned hedgehogs since 2020 and have fostered since 2021, joining the Rehoming Service and Club as admin in 2024, ensuring our foster carers have everything they need for the hogs in their care before they are adopted.

I love to give permanent fosters a spoilt safe place for their remaining months and helping hogs with behavioural issues learn to trust and gain confidence!

  • Kayleigh - Permanent Foster Support

I’ve owned hedgehogs since 2018 and began rescuing and fostering in 2020. I will travel almost anywhere (many road trips and service station food!) to rescue a hog from a difficult situation. I joined the Rehoming Service in 2024 to provide support for foster carers who have perms, giving advice on their weight, health, behavioural or medical issues.

I love giving hogs a safe place to decompress. My home built vivs provide a warm, safe, big space to allow them to do all hedgehog things. I am very observant with hogs in my care and can catch illnesses very early on. I’ve also not found a hog yet I can’t nail trim!

  • Nicola - Adoption Support

I got my first hedgehog in January 2015 from a breeder and the rest have all been adopted. I am a fosterer for the Rehoming Service and joined as adoption support in 2024. I follow up with adopters and check they have no concerns or issues and ensure they always have a point of contact with the rescue so that we always know how our hogs are getting on.

I love all kinds of hogs but especially grumpy bitey ones, who I have lots of experience with!
